It’s a new fitness class that’s taking off across the country. It’s like Zumba.
But a derivative made for kids. It’s called Zumbatomic. It’s a high energy, jammin’ class filled with choreographed dancing.
The class is just a couple of years old and is rapidly growing across the country. Terri Allred of the Rochester Internatioal Dance Studio says it’s one of the few Zumbatomic licensed facilities in the area to offer the class.
A fitness party, providing a great core workout for kids that’s age appropriate.
“It increases kids overall health and fitness. It doesn’t feel ike they’re exercising. It feels like they’re coming to a party,” says Allred
Zumbatomic leaves out the sexier movements often seen in an adult Zumba class, but still promoting an active lifestyle with a class that can boost metabolism and enhance children’s coordination.
It’s geared toward children 12 and under.
The class is driven by Hip-Hop and Latin music, impl;ements simpler movements for students. Making the Zumbatomic routine easier to grasp, boosting self esteem.
“The routines are shorter and simpler so that every child feels success. We’re not teaching above their head, we’re teaching right where they can master it so that way they know that they have been able to succeed,” Allred adds.
Dancing, grooving and keeping kids active.
The Rochester International Dance Studio says teens that might not be ready for adult Zumba are also invited to participate in the class.
