Introduction to Nia Amber
Saturday, September 11, 1-3pm, $25
Nia's approach to fitness and working out addresses the whole person, placing attention on integration, play, sensory, awareness, pleasure, and love.  Nia turns your workout into body work, making comfort, pleasure, joy, and passion a priority.  Amber McCornack is a certified Blue Belt Nia Instructor.


 

Introduction to Indian Dance with Pratibha
Saturday, September 18, 1-3pm, $25
Pratibha will present the basics of classical Indian dance in this introductory workshop. She will teach choreography.


 

Voi or Veil Poi with Layla
Saturday, October 2, 1:30-3pm, $25
Learn to use the enchanting veil poi in this voi spinning workshop featuring basics and a brief choreography using one voi. Layla will introduce double voi as well. Please bring your own voi or materials to make one in class. You will need: a size “C” battery, a silk veil (approx. 3 yards long), a lanyard (approx $.99 at most craft stores).


 

Tribal Bra Making with Alliyah
Saturday, October 9, 1-3pm, $25
Make your own custom Tribal Bra at 1/2 the price you'd pay someone else to make. Get gratification in saying that you made it yourself.

Supplies Needed:

· 1 Bra- preferrably black- buy cheap, check clearance. Make sure it's the right cup size and within a few inches of your normal size. We will be cutting the back off so it doesn't have to be the exact size around.
· 4- D Rings 1 inch - in any color. May want to match or coordinate with your jewelry.
· 1 package- (3yrds) Black wide single fold Bias Tape
· 1- Sewing needle
· 1- Spool of black thread
· 1- pair scissors
· Straight pins
· Picture of any ideas
· Any decoration you want on your bra.
· Ribbon
· Jewelry - broken, mismatched, clearance
· Fashion pins
· Shells
· Medallions
· Coins
· Fringe

I will have some supplies on hand if needed.


 

Floor Work with Layla
Saturday, October 16, 1:30-3pm, $25
The art of floor work can easily be added to your dance routine. Floor work can be incorporated as a way to showcase a dancer’s skill and strength. You will learn how to gracefully descent to and ascend from the floor, classic floor movements and a short floor-work choreography. Laylah will demonstrate safe, beginner level moves. You may bring knee pads, floor mats and/or dance shoes if you wish to cushion your body.


 

Tai Chi and Qigong with Deah
Saturday, October 23, 1-3pm, $25
Tai Chi and Qigong are part of an ancient, and modern, Chinese health care system designed to integrate the body and mind by using postures and the breath. Tai Chi has been called moving meditation. Qigong are single postures done repeatedly, either standing or seated. This practice of simple, gentle movements and mindfulness is shown to increase well-being, concentration, balance and energy. Studies also show an increase in relaxation and confidence, and decrease of stress and falling.
Participants will become familiar with the Yang style of Tai Chi, and a variety of Qigong styles. Qi, or Chi, means life force or vital energy. This energy is cultivated with Tai Chi and Qigong practice.
Appropriate for all ages and abilities.


 

Veil Choreography with Nahimana
Saturday, November 13, 1-3pm, $25
Join Nahimana to learn a beautiful cabaret choreography utilizing the silk veil. Nahimana is known for her breathtaking veil work. This class is appropriate for all levels.


 

Arabian Eyes: Stage Make Up workshop with Nahimana
Saturday, November 20, 2-3:30, $20

Nahimana shares make up tips and secrets from the California fashion runways.  She will cover;
basic make up blending, facial contouring, creating exotic eyes, slimming a round face, and making a
double chin disappear.

Please bring:  a good set of brushes (Sonia Kashuk at Target); dark brown, black and white (matt) eye shadows; dark brown or black eye liner pencil (kohl by Rimmel); mascara (black), light colored concealer; blush (a shade darker than you wear); lip liner; lip stick (red).  *brands are recommended, not required.

Please arrive wearing concealer and foundation.
